AOxEU: Europe Day "on the air" 2016  español english

This year, 9 May is on Monday, but we will be also active the whole weekend 7 and 8 with the special callsigns: AO1EU, AO2EU, AO3EU, AO4EU, AO5EU, AO6EU, AO7EU, AO8EU and AO9EU, to commemorate the creation of the EU in 1950.

As usual, special QSL and Award will be available. Contact also valid for the Radio Clubs of the World Award, EANET.

Follow the event through the hashtag: #eudota.

EUDOTA is the acronym of EUrope Day On The Air, an activity carried out since 2010 by the EA Digital Federation, with the support of the European Radio Amateurs' Organization (EURAO), in order to promote the European spirit and harmony among citizens, peoples and nations.

How to contact the special stations?

During the two days, they will be on the air using the different bands and more usual modes (phony, CW, digital, etc.). A good way to locate them is through DX Cluster and/or also consulting the agenda of the activity.

Members who wish, may go on air with these special callsigns, upon request by the booking system enabled for this purpose (see below).

How to get the QSL?

In addition to making contact (or listening the SWLs) with one or several of the active stations from all Spanish districts, you should act according to the case:

  • Members of FEDI-EA and/or EURAO: do nothing, automatically you will receive it via EuroBureauQSL. Needn't to send your own QSL, but if you do so, it is welcome. In this case, set as Manager: EA3RKF.

  • Other hams: send a SAE with 1 IRC to: FEDI-EA - P.O. Box 3050 - 08200 Sabadell (SPAIN).

Warning: Don't try to send your QSLs via IARU bureaus classic system, they will never get to us because its member society in Spain (URE) withholds them.

How to get the Award?

Those contacting with at least 3 special stations of different districts, will be able to download the special Award for free from the internet in pdf format.

Those who get 5 districts contacted will reach the Award with distinctive Bronze, with 7 to Silver and with the all 9 to Gold.

Reservations to operate the special stations

We take care of almost everything: apply for special callsigns, configure the booking system, upload logs to eQSL and to our website, send QSL cards, etc.

You just have to enjoy doing radio, fill out and send the log.

Well, you also need to choose the time you want to use any of the special callsigns via our booking system. Read the procedure and follow its recommendations.

As a suggestion, the call may be in English: "CQ CQ CQ ... this is AOxEU, special event station in occassion of Europe Day", or in Spanish: "CQ CQ CQ ... de AOxEU, estación especial con motivo del Día de Europa".

This year the activity will start at 00:00 h EA 2016-05-07 (22:00 h UTC 2016-05-06) and end at 23:59 h UTC 2016-05-09 (01:59 h EA 2016-05-10).

Thanks in advance to all those who collaborate in this activity, either as operators or as simple correspondents. Have fun!
